IGCSE

Radhakrishnan International School, Borivali is one of the popular International Schools in Western Suburbs which provides the International General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Being a Part of International schools in Western Suburbs we are GCSE, affiliated with Cambridge Assessment International Education, UK. They are part of the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s top universities and trusted for excellence in education. The IGCSE qualification is recognized by the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) and is equivalent to any Std 10 Board Examination in all over India. Cambridge qualifications are recognized and accepted by universities, educators and employers across the globe. The IGCSE course is compatible with other curricula and is internationally relevant and sensitive to different needs and cultures.

At our school, we offer:

1. Cambridge Primary (Grade 1 to 5)

Designed for the age group of 5 to 11 years, the Cambridge Primary curriculum is an excellent framework for learning in the primary years and provides a solid foundation for progression to secondary education.

It develops English language, mathematical and scientific skills through its curricular stages in these subjects. The syllabus for Primary also includes subjects like Social Studies, Marathi and Hindi. Co-curricular subjects like Drawing, PE, Music, Dance and Drama are a part of the daily time table.

The students go through the mandatory evaluations of the school.

At the end of primary stage the students can opt for the Primary Checkpoint exam in English, Math and Science, in the month of April.

2. Cambridge Lower Secondary (Grade 6,7)

Cambridge Lower Secondary develops skills and understanding in English, mathematics and science for the first three years of secondary education. Cambridge Lower Secondary provides excellent preparation for Cambridge Upper Secondary and other educational programmes. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests can be used to monitor learners’ readiness for the next stage of education. Cambridge Lower Secondary includes two testing options: Cambridge Lower Secondary Progression Tests and Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint. These assessments provide an international benchmark of student achievement, helping teachers to identify learners’ strengths and weaknesses and give advice on progression routes.

3. Cambridge Upper Secondary / IGCSE (Grade 8 to 10)

Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds. It is recognized by leading universities and employers worldwide, and is an international passport to progression and success. Developed over 25 years ago, it is tried, tested and trusted by schools worldwide. Cambridge IGCSE provide a broad and balanced study across a wide range of subjects, using learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning. For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. It is the perfect springboard to advanced study.

It provides a broad and balanced study across a wide range of subjects related to the Science, Commerce and Humanities. The top grade achievable is A*. The examinations test not only memory and speed but students’ knowledge and reasoning and problem solving abilities. Students experience integrated assessments, which provide a valuable indication of the students’ academic progress and achievement in relation to an international benchmark.

SSC

The Secondary School certificate Examination

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya also offers the State Secondary Certificate course for its students. The course is as prescribed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation for the Primary and as per the Maharashtra State Board of Education for the Secondary Section.

We believe in stress-free education and the systems are designed to help make learning a joyful experience for the child. The syllabus is delivered through qualified and experienced teachers, who use a variety of methods to make learning fun. The teaching methodology uses the prescribed text books of the Maharashtra Board and includes field trips, project work and specially designed worksheets that ensure complete learning and inculcate the habit of self- management.

Students have an environment that allows them freedom for individual expression and develop the capability that is required to show achievement in the final examinations as per the standards set by the Board of SSC examinations. The academic level of the students shows that they are well up to the standards of measurement, while at the same time, able to participate in the numerous activities that the school provides for them. The Gurukul International Kindergarten curriculum is designed to meet the requirements of the Cambridge Primary which further leads to the prestigious IGCSE qualifications. Students from the age group of 3 – 5 years learn the necessary skills and information that will ensure success in mastering the world class content of the Cambridge course

Gurukul Kindergarten curriculum is designed to prepare the students for the Brihan Mumbai Mahanagar Corporation Primary Curriculum. The student will learn the basic skills that will enable him/ her to achieve the success at beginners level of Std 1 and eventually the Secondary School Certificate- SSC Examination.

Partnership With Parents

  • Orientation Day: The school invites parents to an orientation in June where there are introduced to the school philosophy and beliefs , as well as to meet the teachers.
  • Acess Day: Every alternative month, parents are invited to view the learning of the child – in academic skills presentations , artistic and literary performances , physical education demos , and exhibits.
  • Parent Interaction Programme (PIP): Parents are welcome to spend time in the child’s classroom and observe first-hand how methodology works, and how children learn best through play.

Just like the Kaleidoscope changes colors and shapes to create beautiful and unique designs, the Kindergarten students enthrall their parents with their performances and recitations on their cultural day. The myriad activities showcase the children’s awareness, confidence and inventiveness that leave the audience awestruck.

Head Over Heels

Demonstrating fine and gross motor skills, JumpStart is a day abuzz with excitement and squeals of laughter as Kindergarten students show astounding feats of physical development. Accomplishing contortions and tumbles, the students appear as tiny packets of energy, lighting up faces wherever they go.

Super Gran Day

Each generation leaves behind a legacy in the form of their children, and for them to know how important their contribution is to the future of society, Super GranDay is observed by students in the company of their grand-parents. Grandparents, happy to be in school, shower the children with their love and blessings.
